As an Oxford history graduate/comedian Al Murray is asked to present a 10 part series tracing the Allies progress from the beaches of Normandy to the fall of Berlin. He sets out to discover the realities of wartime life for the men whose year-long campaign finally defeated Hitler. It's a campaign that sees him leaping from landing craft into icy waters, parachuting into Arnhem and learning how to drive original WWII tanks.
